Holland: Living and Working in Chile

Santiago

Neighborhood where apartment is

Neighborhood where our apartment is and the Andes in the background.

Starbucks in Santiago

Starbucks in Santiago

View looking north from our apartment. Two years ago there was no Starbucks in Santiago and people argued that they would never come because Chillenos would not pay big money to drink American style coffee.

Top of the park

Statute of Christ at the top of the park

The statue of Christ at the top of the park. This is facing a different direction from the picture of the neighborhood.

Window washers

These are window washers in the building directly across from our apartment. Instead of washing just the windows, they wash the whole building by hand. The surface is polished granite -- like a counter top. The working day starts at 9:00 am and ends at 7:00 pm with a one hour lunch break from 1:00-2:00. It is a long day!
